M.P. Ramesh – Centre for wind energy technology (CWET)

Mr. M.P. Ramesh is Executive Director of Center for Wind Technology, Chennai since April 2002. He is responsible for the overall development of the field and Center including wind resource assessment, testing, certification and standardization. He has guided setting up of quality systems for the center, provided key inputs to the development of policy guidelines issued by the Ministry on wind farming, coordinated with DANIDA funded Wind Turbine Test Station project, conducted international training programs on wind turbine technology ad applications and also worked with the wind turbine manufacturers for design, development, testing and certification.

Mr. Ramesh was working at National Aerospace Laboratories at Bangalore for over 22 years of which he spent the last eight (1994 – 2002) as head of the wind energy program. His other responsibilities included design, development and testing of water pumping and battery charging wind machines, set up instrumentation for laboratory and field testing of small wind machines, wind farm resource assessment, siting, machine selection, installation etc, and provide training for wind flow modeling. He has undertaken various assignments for state governments for wind resource assessment and has also been consultant to MNRE for wind resource assessment in the North eastern States of India.

Mr. Ramesh has a Masters in Engineering from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and was also awarded a special fellowship by the Deutsche Akademischer Austausch- Dienst (DAAD), Germany to participate in a Post graduate course at Oldenburg University, FRG. He has also authored and co-authored over 30 publications.
